A former WWE Superstar who spent their career with the company on the NXT brand has debuted for AEW at their latest set of tapings.
AEW’a roster has grown to be a blend of homegrown stars and the best of independent talent alongside former WWE and NXT Superstars. Former stalwarts of the black and gold brand such as Malakai Black, Andrade, Ruby Soho, Adam Cole, and reDRagon have all now made their home in All Elite Wrestling.
The latest former NXT star to make their AEW debut did so at the latest set of Dark and Elevation tapings at Universal Studios, Orlando, and if you’d rather wait to watch the shows and see who it was, this is your warning to turn back.
Lucha Libre Online reported that Danielle Kamela made her AEW debut as she took on another former NXT star in Marina Shafir. Kamela is best known by her WWE moniker of Vanessa Borne as she competed for the company for five years, from 2016 until her release from the company in May 2021.
During her time in WWE, Kamela was eliminated in the first round of the 2017 Mae Young Classic tournament losing to now-AEW star Serena Deeb. Later in her NXT run, Vanessa Borne formed a team with current SmackDown star Aliyah before rumours swirled that Borne had been set for a main roster debut in early 2020.
However, that debut never came to pass and Vanessa Borne’s last match in WWE came in January 2020 – 14 months before her release – where she was on the losing side of a six-woman tag team match at an NXT live event.
