Former NXT star Marina Shafir is the latest name to be announced for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 7 which is due to take place in October.

Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport is an event not for the faint of heart. It features the best combat and MMA strikers and submission style wrestlers from all over the world. The matches take place on a ring canvas without turnbuckles and ropes and can only end by knockout or submission.

Previous shows have seen some of wrestling’s toughest competitors take to the canvas. Fighters and wrestlers such as Minoru Suzuki, Filthy Tom Lawlor, Davey Boy Smith Jr, and WALTER have all competed in the Bloodsport ring.

Joining those illustrious competitors for Bloodsport 7 to be held on October 22nd will be former NXT star and MMA fighter, Marina Shafir. Before joining WWE, The Supernova from Moldova boasted an amateur MMA career of 5 wins and zero losses before turning professional for three fights with a record of 1-2. Shafir is a member of the MMA Four Horsewomen alongside Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, and Jessamyn Duke. On NXT Marina Shafir and Duke were Baszler’s henchwomen before she left NXT for RAW.

On June 25th, 2021, Marina Shafir was released from her WWE contract. Her husband Roderick Strong still competes on the WWE’s developmental brand as the lynchpin of Diamond Mine.

Earlier this year GCW ran Bloodsport 6 in April that was headlined by Josh Barnett vs. Jon Moxley in a brutally physical encounter that left both men beaten and bloodied.

The event was first devised in 2018 by GCW and WWE Tag Team Champion Matt Riddle who competed in the first event against NJPW’s resident psycho Suzuki. The show also featured Eddie Kingston, Dan Severn, Timothy Thatcher, and Nick Gage.

The event takes place on Friday, Oct 22 at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angles. The PPV is available to purchase on FITE TV.
