Another former NXT star may be showing back up in WWE soon.

Many ex-NXT talents have appeared on the main roster since Triple H took over creative in WWE. He has brought back names such as Dakota Kai, Dexter Lumis, Hit Row, and others. A new rumor suggests Triple H is keen on bringing back another former NXT talent.

During this week’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that one of the names Triple H wants to see back in the fold is former NXT North American Champion Jonah, a.k.a. Bronson Reed. Jonah worked several dark matches on the main roster before his release from the company. Meltzer’s speculation comes after Jonah’s interesting handshake at NJPW Declaration of Power.

“When [Okada vs. Jonah] was over, they did a handshake. They didn’t talk ‘finale,’ and they didn’t say he was leaving, but kind of the way that handshake… WWE’s gone after Jonah, and they want him.

And even though Jonah was getting a great push here, this was actually the first pinfall loss he’s taken in New Japan [Pro Wrestling]. The handshake was kind of weird. It was almost like you think maybe he’s going back [to WWE]. But I don’t know if that’s the case or not.”

Jonah signed with WWE in early 2019 and made his in-ring debut at an NXT live event in March. Under the name Bronson Reed the highpoint of the Australian star’s black and gold run came in May 2021 when he captured the NXT North American Title.

The star was released by the company just three months later and has since appeared in New Japan and IMPACT Wrestling.
