One of NXT’s top tag teams made their main roster debut on the most recent set of tapings for Main Event.
The Creed Brothers – Brutus and Julius – have been part of the developmental brand since August 2021. The real-life brothers debuted as part of Roderick Strong’s Diamond Mine stable, and quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
In February 2022, the pair won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in their first attempt, defeating Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs and the Grizzled Young Veterans to reach the finals at that year’s Vengeance Day. In the final bout, they overcame MSK – Nash Carter & Wes Lee – to have their names inscribed on the Dusty trophy.
That April, the pair were unsuccessful in two attempts at winning the NXT Tag Team Championships. At In Your House in June 2022, however, the Creeds beat Pretty Deadly to finally capture the gold. They went on to have successful defences against the likes of The D’Angelo Family’s Channing Lorenzo & Tony D’Angelo and the team of Edris Enofe & Malik Blade.
At Worlds Collide in September, the Creeds were dethroned in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination match with both their championships and NXT UK Tag Team Championships on the line. The pair lasted until the end but fell to the Pretty Deadly. Later that month, they failed to recapture the titles in a steel cage match.
The Creed Brothers make main roster debut
Despite no longer holding the gold, the Creeds’ future looks bright as the pair had their first match on the main roster at the February 6th Main Event tapings. The duo faced off against AJ Styles‘ partners in The OC, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson.
While they were unable to overcome the former Raw Tag Team Champions, getting a look in on Main Event is a positive sign for the team as it shows WWE management is interested to see how they look on the bigger stage.
