Former IC Champ To Challenge Carmelo Hayes At Worlds Collide

Worlds Collide will feature a former Intercontinental Champion challenging for Carmelo Hayes’ NXT North American Title!

The latest episode of NXT 2.0 featured multiple appearances from Raw and SmackDown superstars, many of whom held championships during their time in NXT and wanted to enforce the legacy of their titles ahead of unification matches at the upcoming Worlds Collide show.

However, NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes is not set for a title unification match at the upcoming show, and at the end of the August 30th episode of NXT, he declared that he would not be competing at Worlds Collide.

Not content to let the title go without a defense, former Intercontinental Champion Ricochet – who also reigned as North American Champion during his time in NXT – made a surprise appearance to confront Hayes and issue a challenge for September 4th in Cardiff, Wales. After congratulating Hayes on having multiple successful title defenses, he mocked the current champion, saying that no one remembers any of his previous matches.

Ricochet made it clear that he wants to give the NXT fans a North American title match that they’ll never forget.

Ricochet won’t be the only main roster WWE Superstar featured at Worlds Collide as earlier in the show, Nikki ASH and Doudrop confronted NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter and Katana Chance and issued a challenge for their titles. Doudrop and ASH recently came up short in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament, losing to Alexa Bliss and Asuka in the first round.
