A former WWE superstar recently opened up his “extremely high” chances of a return to his previous promotion.
In the past few years, WWE has parted ways with several of their previous stars. Names such as Ricochet, Mustafa Ali, Jinder Mahal, Matt Riddle, and a few more either willingly departed the promotion or were let go.
However, recently one such controversial name expressed a hopeful return to the Stamford-based wrestling company. In an interview with Steven Muelhausen of Sports Illustrated, Matt Riddle opened up on a future WWE return despite his controversial run with the company. He stated:
The chances of me going back, I think they’re extremely high. If CM Punk, who filed a lawsuit against WWE, and then raked them through the mud for a decade, then goes to the competition, I’ll tell you this, if he can do that, everything can be forgiven. I know I wasn’t the easiest to work with at times. I think the door is always open.”
I think the longer I’m away, the harder I work, and the more I do, the more likely I could come back. But I’ll also say this, if I never go back ever again, and they never talk to me again, I’ll be ok with that.”
The former United States Champion compared his possible return with CM Punk’s storied return at Survivor Series last year. Riddle is one of the most controversial superstars the company had, with multiple failed drug tests, sexual assault charges, and his notorious incident at the airport which ultimately led to his release.
