A former champion made a splash with his return to NXT 2.0, getting revenge over a longtime rival!

For months, Legado del Fantasma have been linked with Tony D’Angelo’s Family. While the two factions were initially at odds, the events of In Your House saw the members of former Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar’s crew forced to join forces under the leadership of D’Angelo when the Family was able to defeat Legado del Fantasma in a six man tag team match.

In the following weeks, D’Angelo would command the members of Legado del Fantasma to do his bidding, getting them to interfere on behalf of the Family in an attempt to gain more power and influence over the rainbow brand.

However, at Great American Bash on July 5th, D’Angelo revealed that Santos Escobar had been hospitalized, and it was heavily implied that D’Angelo had put him in the medical facility himself for failing to help The Don win any championships in NXT. It was soon revealed that crew member Two Dimes had also suffered punishment at the hands of D’Angelo’s crew after Troy Donovan was released from the company following a failed drug test.

The latest episode of NXT 2.0 saw Tony D’Angelo and Stacks take on the Creed Brothers in an attempt to become NXT Tag Team Champions. While it looked as though the Family might finally gain the championship gold they so desperately sought, toward the end of the match, Santos Escobar made a surprise return and hit Tony D’Angelo in the face with brass knuckles out of sight of the referee. This allowed the Diamond Mine members to retain their titles, much to the chagrin of an enraged D’Angelo.

The reunited Legado del Fantasma celebrated on the ramp following the match, clearly pleased with Escobar’s work.

After the match was over, Escobar got on the phone with D’Angelo and the two agreed to one more meeting as they are unable to work together. It remains to be seen where this meeting will take place.

Elsewhere on the episode, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance were crowned the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions after the titles were vacated by Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez.
