Mickie James wants a match with Sasha Banks.
Former five-time WWE Women’s Champion, Mickie James isn’t quite ready to call it a career. The IMPACT Wrestling star took to Twitter and commented on a recent photo of Sasha Banks and Naomi during a modeling show. Banks responded to James, who then followed up by simply telling Banks, “Fight Me!!!!”.
Sasha Banks, alongside Naomi, walked out ahead of the May 16 episode of Monday Night RAW and placed their WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles on the desk of now-former VP of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis’ desk before exiting the arena. Banks, nor Naomi have been seen on WWE TV since and outside of a controversial mention on commentary claiming that Banks and Naomi acted ‘unprofessionally’, neither Banks nor Naomi have been alluded to on WWE programming.
However, it was recently reported that both Banks and Naomi were recently added to the company’s internal roster sheets, signifying a possible return for the former champions.
Meanwhile, Mickie James originally signed with WWE in 2003 and reported to the company’s now defunct developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). James would make her main roster debut in 2005, where she famously feuded with Trish Stratus, which led to a match at WrestleMania 22 between the pair and James would defeat the WWE Hall of Famer to claim her first championship with the company.
The Virginia-native would depart the company in 2010 after what James explains as WWE wanting to “move in a new direction with their women’s division.”
James would return to WWE in 2016, where she competed in NXT before going back to the main roster, where she’d have various feuds before being let go by the company in April 2021. However, she would appear, alongside the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship during the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match in a one-night cross-over appearance.
