Former AEW Tag-Team Almost Reunites On Collision

AEW Adds 4 New Bouts To May 8th Collision Lineup

This AEW tag team almost came back together.

Earlier this year, in January, fans witnessed the breakup of one of the most popular tag teams on the roster, The Acclaimed. Consisting of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, the team was managed by WWE veteran, Billy Gunn.

However, following their breakup earlier this year, neither of the two members was able to achieve individual success. While Max Caster has lost all of his singles ‘open challenge’ matches, Bowens became lost in the singles mid-card competition.

The September 13th episode of Collision shed some light on their reunion. Tonight, Bowens faced off against Konosuke Takeshita to determine the final entrant in the AEW Unified Championship three-way bout at the All Out PPV. In the same episode, Caster lost his open challenge match to Big Bill.

Later in the episode, the duo would reunite in a backstage segment alongside Jerry Lynn. However, instead of finishing their trauma, they would continue to brawl down the ramp to the ring. Soon, Lynn would stop the fight and give the duo a reality check about the current status on the roster, before Swirl (Lee Johnson & Blake Christian) caused an interruption and attacked Caster, as Bowens walked out.

However, he soon returned to the squared circle to fight them off. Bowens and Caster worked together to eject Johnson from the ring, but after Lynn raised their hands as one, they immediately separated.

Tonight’s segment has raised a sense of hope among the fans about The Acclaimed’s much-awaited reunion.

Anthony Bowens Wants To Create This AEW Record

A couple of years ago, while speaking with Out Magazine, Bowens revealed the AEW record he would like to break.

“As much as I hope The Acclaimed, the tag team I’m a part of, stays forever, I would love to become AEW’s first gay World Champion. I got the Tag Team titles checked off the list, but there hasn’t been a gay World Champion. I would also like to be a Grand Slam champion, too, which is where you win every title once,”
