Former AEW Star Says He Rejected Power Slap Offer As Dana White's Comments Get Heat

A former AEW star has opened up on Dana White’s recent controversial comments.

Owned by White, Power Slap is a slap-fighting company known for its brutal and barbaric nature. Recently, White appeared on the YouTube channel Cutler Cast, where he promoted Power Slap and targeted budding pro-wrestlers for their career choice. Criticizing their decision to work for less money, White argued that they could put in a similar effort for more money at Power Slap.

However, his comments were not taken lightly by former All Elite Wrestling star Joey Janela, who decided to speak up. Sharing his thoughts on X(Twitter), Janela revealed that he had once rejected an offer to join Power Slap.

Nothing against anyone doing the powerslap deal props to you but they hit me up and asked me if I wanted to do it, & I said fuck no. Was the money good yes, was the money good enough to give someone a free shot at jaw, The Embarrassment & CTE deluxe? Fuck no, I’ll take the $50 to launch myself off a ladder through the thumbtack table any day of the week..

Several pro wrestlers, including Juicy Finau, Stunt Marshall, Mazzerti, Facade, HollyHood Haley J, and Alice Crowley, had previously participated in a professional wrestling Power Slap special.

Tony Khan Addresses WWE’s Counterprogramming Tactics Against AEW

At the recently held media call before Forbidden Door, All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan addressed WWE’s recent tactics to counterprogram the Jacksonville-based promotion.

“We’ve had a great 2025 in AEW and I believe that, in large part, that’s because everyone in AEW is really focused on making AEW a tremendous promotion and continuing this excellent year we’re having.”

“All these things have come together to build a lot of excitement inside AEW and outside AEW, and all around the company. I want to be able to continue that, and the most important thing for us is to talk about AEW and work really hard on AEW every week. It means not necessarily focusing on what every wrestling promotion is doing, but I do like watching wrestling and keeping up with what other wrestling promotions are doing.

We’ve been in business since 2019 and in every one of those years, there have been other wrestling promotions at times doing very cool things. At the very best of AEW, we’ve been super focused on what we’re doing. Not being the only wrestling company in the world, but trying our best to be the best. I know we have the best wrestlers, and this year I think we’re doing the best TV shows and pay-per-views. I know we have the best fans.”
