A former AEW star has announced a serious injury.
A Massively popular star and former AEW wrestler, Joey Janela has announced suffering from serious nerve damage. On 16th February 2025, Janela shared a concerning update on his health status. Writing on X(Twitter), he claimed to be admitted to a hospital.
Following an ambush during the Jersey J-Cup match on the second day of the tournament, Janela noted suffering a ruptured bicep and dealing with nerve damage. In his X(Twitter) post, Janela shared:
“In the hospital, just got to see a doctor looks like now after my match yesterday and attack today by Atticus, I not only have a complete ruptured bicep but also nerve damage to the arm that’s affecting the my arm all the way down to the hand.
I currently have no feeling in my ring and pinky finger. We are looking for options but it seems a major surgery is imminent in the morning. I’m sorry to everyone, things aren’t looking too good.”
After his loss against Atticus Cogar in the Jersey J-Cup 2025 First Round, Cogar subsequently attacked Janela after the match, leaving him with no feeling in his fingers and other injuries that might require surgery.
Although the gravity or kayfabe scenario of the injury is not been known yet, we at Inside The Ropes wish Joey Janela a safe and happy recovery.
A part of AEW from 2019 to 2022, Janela had his final match against Lee Moriarty on AEW Dark.
