Former AEW Champion Denies Speaking With WWE

A former AEW Champion has denied the rumours that they have had talks with WWE regarding a potential return to the company.

In late March, news broke that former AEW Women’s Champion Saraya had departed the company on mutual terms after just over 2 years. With the former Paige making a name for herself in WWE and once again cleared to compete, the rumour mill has once again gone into overdrive regarding one more run. However, according to the former Women’s Champion, no talks have taken place just yet.

Speaking with Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone to promote her new memoir Hell in Boots: Clawing My Way Through Nine Lives, Saraya stated that outside projects are currently her main priority over any talks with WWE:

“That’s something that with this year, I kind of want to get all my business and stuff, deals out the way, like under my name and all that kind of stuff. Because I’m not — people think I’m going back to WWE or whatever, because there’s this huge rumor mill happening right now. But I haven’t spoken to them. At least not right now, I haven’t spoken to them.”

Former AEW Star Saraya Addresses How WWE Has Changed

In the interview, one topic that was brought up from her book was the WWE Twitch ban that saw the company stop outside projects. When asked about how the promotion has changed in recent times, Saraya noted that it is much more receptive to outside projects than it once was:

“I’m also focusing on my podcast, acting, all that kind of fun stuff too. I wouldn’t want it to affect my brand. And I feel like WWE now is being more open and receptive to people doing outside stuff. They are much more comfortable with that and are much more accepting of that. I feel like, if I ever did go back, I feel like they would be understanding at this point and kind of let me do my thing.

“But, I’m not trying to do anything crazy, nothing too wild. But I do want to be able to have the freedom to do what I want. That’s so important to me, is to have freedom. So, yeah. I feel like with Hunter now in charge too, he’s really great. He is great with his talent. He is understanding, like I said, of things that people want to do outside of wrestling. And I think this new era is probably a lot of fun now.”
