Forgotten WWE Star Makes Shock In-Ring Return, Has Leg Ripped Off

WWE logo over roster

Professional wrestling is an entire industry built on the element of surprise, but not many would have predicted that one former WWE Superstar would have been back in action in 2023.

Duke “The Dumpster” Droese made a surprise appearance at MLW Battle Riot complete with trademark trash can in hand. Drose got in some offence before having his prosthetic leg pulled by Alex Kane. The spot was a call back to Kevin Nash doing the same to Maurice Vachon back in 1996 at In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies.

Alex Kane went on to pick up the win in the match that also featured cameos from Snitsky and Steve Lombardi.

Duke “The Dumpster” Droese Join WWE In 1994

Michael Droese made his in-ring debut in 1990 and competed on the independent circuit until 1994. The star was given the name Duke “The Dumpster” Droese upon signing with WWE in 1994, making his debut in May with a win over Barry Horowitz.

Performing as a garbage man Droese remained with WWE until the summer of 1996 when he negotiated the release of his contract. His final televised match came on July 13th when he lost to T.L. Hopper.

After leaving WWE, Droese continued his career on the independent circuit and made an appearance in the famous “Gimmick Battle Royal” at WrestleMania X7.
