On the 7th April 2023 episode of SmackDown, WWE’s chief content officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque made a surprise appearance to announce that the 2023 WWE Draft was coming soon.
‘The Game’, who earlier in the week on Raw had assured fans that it would be business as usual following the $21bn merger with Endeavour Group, told fans that the Draft was just a few weeks away and that every WWE Superstar would be eligible.
The announcement could be seen as an opportunity for those not prominently featured on their main roster show, or talent in NXT, to get a fresh opportunity on WWE television.
One such talent who has teased a main roster return is Veer Mahaan. Following the announcement he took to Twitter to imply that his return could be imminent:
“I’m coming
See you soon.”

Forgotten WWE Raw star teases main roster return
It would not be the first time that Veer Mahaan had debuted on the WWE main roster. He was drafted to the RAW brand back in October 2021 and heavily built up in vignettes on the WWE’s flagship show. Fans were left wondering when he would debut, however, with the teasers lasting for several months before Mahaan eventually made an appearance on the Monday Night Raw that followed WrestleMania 38 in Dallas.
He briefly feuded with the Mysterio’s, including picking up a singles victory over new WWE Hall Of Famer Rey Mysterio, but the run quickly fizzled out he re-emerged in NXT on 4th October 2022.
Whilst many laid the blame for the lack of main roster success at the Indus Sher member’s door, he did find a supporter in former WWE Hall Of Famer, Booker T.
Speaking on his podcast The Hall Of Fame with Booker T and Brad Gilmore, the former five-time WCW Champion defended Mahaan, suggesting that WWE creative had waited too long to debut the star, causing the fans to lose interest:
“The build up, it was way too long because we’ve already seen him before. We had already seen Veer, so it wasn’t like, and when we saw him the next time, it wasn’t like he was repackaged, he was the same guy.”
