Triple H, the godfather of NXT, has given his thoughts on what he looks for in potential new talent.
Since the inception of the black and gold brand, ‘The Cerebral Assassin’ has made a name for himself for mining the very best talent from both the indies and tryouts and bringing them to WWE.
Stars like Keith Lee, Pete Dunne, Adam Cole and a plethora of others have been given a stage they may not have otherwise received because of Triple H’s faith in their ability. However, there is one trait that the former WWE Champion looks for in a new recruit.
Speaking at the Sports Business Journal’s 2020 Learfield IMG College Intercollegiate Athletics Forum, Helmsley decreed that he wanted charisma above all else:
“For us, charisma is king. I’m looking for that person, male or female, that walks into a room and you’re drawn to them. That just has that charisma factor. You’re looking for the people that have the skillset, but it’s funny for me, I’ll take heart and hunger. They’ll work a lot harder and they might make mistakes, but in those mistakes you’ll find excellence. And they’ll go above and beyond to prove themselves.”
The current crop of recruits signed to WWE’s developmental system involves former IMPACT Wrestling stars Desmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz.
Recently, Triple H has opined that both WWE and NXT are open to do business with other wrestling promotions in the wake of the momentous AEW and IMPACT Wrestling partnership, which has seen Kenny Omega split his time between Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
His latest endeavour is NXT India, which will begin filming in January 2021 with an 8-Man Elimination Tournament to crown the inaugural NXT Indian Champion, before the brand move on to a weekly schedule following in the footsteps of NXT UK.
