Football Icon Adebayo Akinfenwa Declares Himself For WWE Draft

Adebayo Akinfenwa

Wycombe Wanderers star and all-round football cult hero Adebayo Akinfenwa has declared himself for the WWE Draft!

The Wycombe Wanderers star has always looked more suited to the squared circle than he has the football pitch, but the 38-year-old has proven all the doubters wrong throughout a lengthy career that now sees him play in the English Championship.

However, not content with success on the football pitch, Akinfenwa seems ready to unleash Beast Mode on the entire WWE Universe. Akinfenwa took to Twitter to say Vince McMahon has his number, and he’s ready to take on Brock Lesnar or Drew McIntyre – with the latter even responding to the super-strong footballer.

In a recent interview with talkSPORT, the 38-year-old discussed the never-ending rumours of a WWE run.

“I’ve had a couple of calls recently in regards to that. I’ll be following up on that soon – so it could go up or down depending on the outcome of that. I can’t tell you a direct percentage in terms of that [coming to fruition], but it’s something I’m really passionate about, so watch this space, people.”

Akinfenwa is a big WWE fan, but has also made his support of Premier League Champions Liverpool very clear. Mr Beast Mode told TalkSPORT that he’d love to clash with Virgil Van Dijk in the squared circle.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has even hit back at Akinfenwa’s latest video, saying he’ll “have a word” with Vince McMahon.

Will we see Adebayo Akinfenwa in a WWE ring sometime soon? In his own words, I guess we’ll need to “watch this space.”

Fans in the UK and Ireland can watch the WWE Draft Live on BT Sport 1 HD this Friday at 1am on SmackDown, and Monday at 1am on RAW.
