Despite there being two Money In The Bank qualifying matches scheduled for SmackDown, only one Superstar qualified for the Ladder Match in Las Vegas.
The show opened with a qualifying match between Drew McIntyre and Sheamus. The two men are no strangers to each other having battled on and off for a number of years. In a surprise to precisely no one, the match was a hard-hitting brawl from the opening bell.
During the bout the two stars performed each other’s moves, with McIntyre barely kicking out of a Future Shock DDT before delivering White Noise from the second rope. However, the match came to a bizarre end as both men got disqualified for trying to hit each other with chairs.
Despite the referee calling for the bell, the brawl continued all the way through a commercial break and beyond, until the pair were finally separated.
It remains unclear which Superstar will advance to Money In The Bank, despite both protesting to Adam Pearce.
However, in the first women’s qualifying match, there was a clear and decisive winner. Wrestling in her first match since February 2021, Lacey Evans defeated Xia Li in a little over two minutes. While Li looked to gain momentum, she ran straight into a ‘Women’s Right’ and was promptly pinned.
It was recently reported that Lacey Evans will be a SmackDown Superstar going forwards, despite only moving to Raw a few short weeks ago.
