AEW appears to be lining up an opponent for Mercedes Mone.
On February 7th, Tony Khan announced that AEW will present a ‘Big Business’ episode of Dynamite in Boston, the hometown of Mercedes Mone. When the poster for the event was unveiled, eagle-eyed fans spotted that, in the background, the city was spelled ‘Bo$$ton,’ a reference to the star’s old ‘Boss’ nickname in WWE.
With it being all but confirmed that Mone is now AEW-bound, fans have turned to wondering who The CEO’s first opponent will be. On the March 2nd edition of Collision, that question might have been answered.
Serena Deeb Drops Mercedes Mone Tease On AEW Collision
Since returning to action in January, Serena Deeb has been racking up wins in the AEW women’s division, with victories over Robyn Renegade, Queen Aminata, and most recently Lady Frost.
Following her most recent win on Collison, Deeb cut a promo where she proclaimed herself to be “unstoppable” before issuing an open challenge to anyone to “step into Deeb’s Dojo.”
“Not only am I undefeated, I’m undeniable, and I’m unstoppable. Putting on a clinic after clinic every single week here in AEW. Let’s be honest, nobody has really challenged me in the ring yet, and it makes sense because I am ‘The Professor of Professional Wrestling,’ ‘The Woman of 1000 Holds.’
“To be honest, I don’t think the competition that I’ve faced so far would even know the difference between a wristlock and a wristwatch. So if you’re listening, if you’re watching, if you consider yourself one of the best, step into Deeb’s Dojo. Step into my home turf.”
The most interesting part of the promo came at the end when Deeb named herself “The Final Boss.”
“Test yourself against the most elite wrestler, because I’ll be here each and every week showing the world that nobody can do what I do in the ring and why I am ‘The Final Boss.”
Many have now speculated that by Calling herself the “Boss,” Deeb has indicated that Mercedes Mone will be one of the women to take her up on her challenge. Whether that turns out to be the case could be answered at Big Business on March 13th.
