The Judgment Day has undergone a number of changes since first forming as an alliance between Edge and Damian Priest at WrestleMania 38. The group shortly added Rhea Ripley to its ranks, and when Finn Balor joined in June, he ousted Edge as leader.
The most recent addition to the group is Dominik Mysterio, who turned on his father Rey after Rey and Edge secured a victory over Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Since then, Dominik has been doing Rhea Ripley’s bidding. Rey tried to get away from his son by leaving WWE Raw to join the SmackDown roster, but Dominik brought Rhea to the Mysterio house for Thanksgiving dinner and the two launched an attack.
Finn Balor Thinks Dominik Mysterio’s Progress Has Been “Incredible To Watch”
Ahead of his WWE Survivor Series match with AJ Styles, Finn Balor spoke to BT Sport about his feelings on The Judgment Day. He had high praise for the members of his team, speaking first about Rhea Ripley’s incredible star presence.
“She has that ‘it’ factor that you just can’t put your finger on. She is still so young and she’s going to grow and develop into more of a superstar than she already is. It’s so beautiful for me to watch that growth up close and personal.”
Continuing, Balor turned to the subject of Dominik Mysterio, praising the young star for learning on the job when he was thrust into a storyline with his father.
“To see Dominik slip into the role so seamlessly. People forget, he debuted about a year before he turned heel and was learning on the job. He wasn’t really doing that much training. I mean that with the greatest amount of respect, but he had a couple months training with Lance (Storm) and a little here and there with his dad and stuff, but not an immense amount of training to be in the deep end on live TV for WWE.
“He was only kind of adapting to that and then he was thrown this huge curveball where he’s turning on his dad and portraying a completely different character. The way he’s stepped into that character is incredible to watch.”
Balor also shared a story about talking to Mysterio just before he cut his first heel promo on the WWE Raw following Clash at the Castle.
“I remember that first night when he was going out to do a heel promo and going up to him to try and calm him down a little. ‘Don’t worry, it’s going to be cool.’ He’s like, ‘I’m cool. Don’t worry.’ ‘You know what you’re going to say?’ ‘Nah, I’ll figure it out.’ [laughs]. He went out there super chilled and that’s how he is. I think he’s going to be a huge star for us.”
Dominik Mysterio was ringside for Finn Balor’s match against AJ Styles at WWE Survivor Series, but unfortunately for The Judgment Day, The OC was in Styles’ corner. In the end, Styles defeated Balor, and the next night on WWE Raw, both teams faced off in a mixed tag match that also included Rhea Ripley and Mia Yim.
