The world of professional wrestling has been buzzing in recent weeks and months with AEW partnering with IMPACT and NJPW. It’s a trend that NXT Champion Finn Balor has revealed that he would like to see continue.
Speaking to Bleacher Report ahead of successfully defending his title against Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Balor has called on the world’s wrestling companies to work together to make wrestling better.
“I know there’s a lot of cross-brand work going on, which is something I’ve been an advocate for for years,” he said. “I don’t feel like we should be limited to what our contract says or what company we work for. I feel like wrestling on the whole can be better if we all worked together, so if that means me going to Japan or me going to Europe or me going to Mexico, I’m down to do that.”
The former WWE Universal Champion went on to add:
“I’m all for the open-border policy, not just between countries but companies as well.”
Elsewhere in the interview the founding member of the Bullet Club spoke fondly of the group’s origins and what is has achieved, while also expressing his passion for current home NXT.
Finn Balor retained his NXT Title against Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day in a brutal contest, only to be left laying following a superkick from Adam Cole. It is unclear what is next on the horizon for the champion, although he has recently discussed a potential bout with Karrion Kross, commenting that a match-up between the two could even signal the return of his ‘demon’ persona, which has not been seen since Super Showdown in 2019.
