Finn Balor Was Reluctant To Join The Judgement Day Because Of Bullet Club [Exclusive]

Finn Balor and The Judgement Day on RAW

Finn Balor has opened up on why his time as leader of Bullet Club initially caused him to be reluctant to take over The Judgement Day.

Balor’s run at the helm of The Judgement Day has arguably become the Irish star’s most notable period on the WWE main roster, leading him to multiple high-profile matches with Hall of Famer Edge and now two World Championship matches with Seth Rollins.

But Finn Balor wasn’t entirely on-board with the idea at first, he’s now revealed. Speaking with Inside The Ropes’ Kenny McIntosh at the pre-SummerSlam media junket, The Judgement Day leader discussed his initial trepidation about taking over the faction from Edge.

Balor was worried fans would immediately scrutinise and compare the move to his leadership of Bullet Club in New Japan Pro-Wrestling a decade ago.

“I had a lot of success in Japan with being a part of a faction, and I was reluctant to revisit that, as I knew that comparisons would be made.”

What ultimately changed his mind, however, was the chance to work alongside Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest and the potential of them as a trio – something that grew exponentially when Dominik Mysterio also joined their ranks.

“But the idea of teaming with Rhea and Damian just seemed very, very unique, two different people, different backgrounds and different levels of experience, and I felt like there was something to it.

Obviously, we didn’t add Dom into the mix yet, but when we did I felt like it exploded, and it’s been a wild time. I knew there was something to it, I didn’t know how impactful it was going to be, but I feel like we have done a pretty good job.”

Finn Balor Claims Judgement Day Run Is “The Most Fun” Of His Career

In the same interview, Balor went on to praise his time within the faction over the last year. The former Universal Champion claimed that his current WWE run is both “the most fun” and has made him the most comfortable in-ring of his wrestling career.

Balor was quick to note, however, that he isn’t sure if being comfortable in the role is a good or bad thing for his career, stating that he wants to grow and evolve as a performer.

In April 2024, Finn Balor addressed the future of The Demon in WWE.
