After suffering a broken jaw at NXT TakeOver 31, Finn Balor has undergone surgery. The NXT Champion took to Twitter to post an update, stating that he’s recovering from a successful surgery.
Balor posted a photo with Dr Patel, Dr Edgarosa, and his wife Vero Rodríguez, confirming a successful surgery following last week’s NXT TakeOver 31 main event which saw the former Universal Champion defending the title – which had previously been vacated by the injured Karrion Kross – against Undisputed ERA’s Kyle O’Reilly.
WWE had previously posted a statement regarding the injury.
The main event of NXT TakeOver 31 was a brutal, hard-hitting battle for the NXT Championship between Finn Bálor and Undisputed ERA’s Kyle O’Reilly. In the aftermath of the grueling main event, it has become evident that both Superstars are worse for wear.
O’Reilly has a number of broken teeth as a result of the fight with The Prince, WWE.com has learned. O’Reilly is also being evaluated for additional injuries.
WWE.com can also report that Bálor has been taken to a local medical facility for CAT scans to determine if he suffered potential facial fractures in his successful title defense.

Finn Balor would appear on this week’s NXT to confirm his injuries, sharing photos from the X-ray which would reveal that the NXT Champion’s jaw had been broken in two places. Balor laid to rest any speculation that he would have to relinquish the NXT Championship, though – having previously relinquished the Universal Championship due to injury, and won the NXT Championship after it was relinquished due to injury.
There is no timescale as of yet for how long Finn Balor will be out of action.
