Finn Balor reveals his hopes for a singles match against WWE legend in the future.
The feuding between Balor and Edge has been central to The Judgement Day. In June, Edge – the stable’s leader at that time – introduced Balor as their newest member. That same night, Balor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley shockingly turned on their leader and kicked him out of the group.
At Clash At The Castle, Balor faced Edge and Rey Mysterio alongside his Judgement Day stablemate Damian Priest in a losing effort. After the match, however, it appeared that the feud was not over as Dominik Mysterio underwent a shocking heel turn – first attacking Edge before delivering a hard clothesline to his father. During this, The Judgement Day could be seen maniacally laughing and cheering from the side.
In an exclusive interview for Inside the Ropes ahead of last weekend’s Clash At The Castle, Finn Balor was asked by Alex McCarthy if there was the potential for a match with WWE Hall of Famer Edge in the future.
“Oh, I hope so, yeah I hope so. So, like, from a personal standpoint, when Edge retired, I was, you know, disappointed at the fact that you know, that match will never happen. When he returns, you know, Royal Rumble a couple years ago, kind of like that spark was kind of reignited. And now we’re obviously [facing off at Clash at the Castle] I think, tomorrow’s the first time we’ve actually been in the ring together I’m not sure. But we’ve had a couple interactions with run ins and stuff like that. But yeah, hopefully we can get to that singles match with Edge, that’s something that I’m dying for.”
On the following Monday Night Raw, it was revealed that Dominik had joined The Judgement Day. The newest member of the group went on to help them attack Rey Mysterio and The Rated R Superstar. During this attack, Balor hit Edge with a chair. In the concluding moments, Balor placed the chair on Edge’s leg, climbed to the top rope, and proceeded to hit him with the Coup de Grace.
With these developments, the first-time singles match with Edge that Balor is hoping for is looking more and more likely.
