Finn Balor can see the SummerSlam rubber match against Seth Rollins happening in 7 years time.
The WWE Universe finally get to see the leader of The Judgment Day and The Visionary battle over a top tile at SummerSlam. A lot has changed since 2016, with both Balor and Rollins going through peaks and valleys in their careers. If Rollins were to triumph in Detroit, a final match would surely be needed to settle the SummerSlam trilogy.
Speaking exclusively with Inside The Ropes, Balor jokingly admitted that fans will have to wait for the third SummerSlam clash between himself and Rollins, whilst also acknowledging that although his career will have highs and lows, as long as the drive is there the future looks promising:
I feel like in another 7 years I will be wrestling Seth again at SummerSlam in 2031 or something. You never know what way your career is going to go, somedays you are on an upswing and somedays you are on a downswing, but I feel like the most important thing is to be consistent and opportunities will come.
You can’t be on an upward climb the whole time, there’s going to be ups and downs. Right now we are on an up, I’m sure that there’s going to be plenty of downs in the future, I’ll weather the storm again and we will keep moving forward.
Balor’s opponent Seth Rollins hopes to walk out of Detroit the same way he will be walking in, as champion. Rollins has admitted that he does have a lot of respect for Balor, owing his rival a lot for a personal reason.
What Happened Between Finn Balor And Seth Rollins At WWE SummerSlam 2016?
Following Balor being drafted from NXT to Raw and the WWE Championship being exclusively on SmackDown, the Monday night show needed a new champion. The finals of the tournament to crown the new Universal Champion took place at SummerSlam 2016, with Demon Balor taking on a heel Rollins.
Although The Demon King would triumph on the night, a shoulder injury would force Balor to vacate the title 24 hours later on Raw, much to the delight of the former WWE Champion. Balor has been resenting that period of time ever since and is out for revenge at Ford Field.
