Finn Balor Defends WWE Bringing Back Goldberg

Finn Balor has opened up about why he welcomes legends such as Goldberg coming back to WWE for one-off appearances “with open arms”.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the longest reigning NXT Champion explained that he believes that the legends have a place in the wrestling business, whether it’s making a one-off appearance or working every night.

“I believe that everyone has a place in this business, and if you’re on the show, you’re on the show for a reason. If you’re on the show once a year, if you’re on the show every night, that’s down to everybody’s individual circumstance.

“Those guys have carved out their legacy and proven over the years that they belong on the show. Whether it’s for one night or it’s every night, that doesn’t affect me and it shouldn’t affect anyone else.”

The interview took place shortly after Goldberg made his return to WWE to challenge Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. Discussing the return, The Prince said he thinks it’s better to have Goldberg back for one match than not at all.

“For me, when the tide comes in, all the ships rise. If we can have Goldberg on the show, if we can have anyone on the show for one night, I feel it’s better one night than never. I welcome these legends with open arms!”

Balor made his own return to the ring at NXT New Year’s Evil after he was out of action for over two months with a fractured jaw. At the event, he successfully defended the NXT Championship in a hard-hitting rematch against the man who caused the injury, Kyle O’Reilly.
