While a wrestler with more than three decades in the business behind them might usually be winding down their career, Chris Jericho continues to find ways to reinvent himself.
After returning to AEW early in the year after a short hiatus, Jericho engaged in a long-running feud with Eddie Kingston, created the Jericho Appreciation Society and won the Ring of Honor World Championship. He has also drawn praise for his matches against Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and more as he dipped back into his ‘Lionheart’ persona.
Prior to joining WWE in 1999 and embarking on the run that would make him a wrestling megastar and eventually take him to AEW, Jericho wrestled all over the world taking on many of the best on the planet.
This was a path followed by Finn Balor many years later, who after emerging on the British scene headed to New Japan Pro Wrestling where he enjoyed enormous success. This provided him with a springboard to join
WWE.
“Chris Jericho Is A Treasure Of This Industry” – Finn Balor
During an appearance on the Superstar Crossover podcast, Balor waxed lyrical about Jericho’s impact on the wrestling business following a clip from the man himself.
“Chris Jericho is not only an AEW legend, not only a WWE legend, or a Japanese wrestling legend, he’s a legend of this business. He’s an incredible performer. He’s been able to adapt and change his character to suit multiple generations and I feel like he is a treasure of this industry,”
Chris Jericho is the current Ring of Honor World Champion and recently successfully defended the title against Bryan Danielson. AEW’s resident wizard has vowed to keep beating ROH legends in a bid to destroy the legacy of the promotion.
Elsewhere during the interview Balor discussed his own career and where he sees himself going in the future. The Prince explained that he would love to face Roman Reigns again as he feels the pair have unfinished business.
