According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the broken jaw that currently sidelines NXT Champion Finn Balor is not as bad as first reported.

Though he didn’t give a reason why, in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated the injury was:

“…made to be worse than it is.”

As of yet, WWE haven’t given any indication of when Finn Balor should be able to return to the ring but a broken jaw, on average, takes around six weeks to heal.

The company have, however, noted that he will be out of action for an undesignated amount of time. Whether or not Balor appears on NXT television in some form during his recovery remains to be seen.

Following their excellent NXT Championship Match at NXT TakeOver 31, both Finn Balor and challenger Kyle O’Reilly appeared on Prime Target video where they discussed their hard hitting encounter on October 4.

During the video, Finn Balor discussed his injury and his current NXT Championship reign:

“I got time. I got a broken jaw in two different places to prove it. He’s got the fire, but you gotta fight fire with fire. A lot of people asking, ‘Is this title reign going to be as good as the last?’ I think they just got their answer.”

Finn Balor defeated Kyle O’Reilly to retain the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver 31 on October 4.
