New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s dual tournaments, the Best of the Super Juniors and World Tag League, have set their respective finals ahead of Friday’s event at the Nippon Budokan.

The finals of BoSJ will be contested between longtime rivals Hiromu Takahashi and El Desperado, whereas the World Tag League finals will see last year’s victors FinJuice (David Finlay and Juice Robinson) square off against the Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa).

Going into the final block match ups of BoSJ, there were four potential finalists as both SHO and current IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Taiji Ishimori were also still in the running.

The two squared off with Ishimori picking up the win and eventually tying Hiromu and Desperado on 14 points, however due to having been defeated by both men earlier in the tournament, the ‘Bone Soldier’ was left out of the finals.

It was a similar scene in the concurrently run World Tag League tournament, where champions IWGP Tag Team Champions Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr and Taichi) levelled eventual the finalists on 12 points but were ruled out, having suffered defeats to both teams in the weeks prior.
