A new report has claimed that due to the number of people walking out during the most recent AEW Rampage taping, the production of the show had to be altered.

As usual the upcoming episode of AEW Rampage was taped after Dynamite. On this occasion, the show was filmed on July 27th following Fight For The Fallen and will be aired on Friday July 29th.

The highlight of the show featured an interview with new Ring of Honor World Champion Claudio Castagnoli. The star received a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes before he was interrupted by Chris Jericho. Wheeler Yuta was also in the ring and this set up a match between the BCC member and Jericho for the upcoming episode of Dynamite.

Elsewhere, Lee Moriarty defeated Matt Sydal, Anna Jay (Now known as Anna JAS after joining the Jericho Appreciation Society) beat Ruby Soho and Orange Cassidy & Best Friends saw off Satnam Singh, Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal.

However, it appears that not everything at the taping went off without a hitch.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer ran down a report from the taping, with the complete results. Meltzer noted that fans started leaving during the match between Moriarty and Sydal, adding that the crowd was tired.

Problems then reportedly continued into the main event between Anna Jay and Ruby Soho. There was a problem where a pre-tape wouldn’t play, and despite three attempts it wouldn’t work. After this, combined with it being late (around 11.15pm) more fans left, meaning that half the crowd had now gone.

So much of the crowd had left that AEW had to turn the ring lights down to try and hide the empty seats.

The report closed by adding that those who stayed really enjoyed the match.
