The WWE Universe can be a bizarre place at times. Various fan theories and rumors over the years have had some truth to them, and a new championship idea making the rounds could fall into that category.

Ricochet became the inaugural WWE Speed Champion during the May 3, 2024 episode, by defeating Johnny Gargano in the tournament finals. The reign ended 42 days later by Andrade during the June 14, 2024 episode. The title was taken off Ricochet as he was leaving World Wrestling Entertainment on June 30. The veteran star then signed with AEW on August 22, 2024, and he has been there on the mid-card ever since.

Chad Gable portrayed the masked character at the time of the title win, but Ludwig Kaiser took on the El Grande Americano gimmick in late June due to Gable’s shoulder injury. Gable only defended once, against Berto on Speed,

El Idolo’s reign as the second-ever Speed Champion ended 159 days later during the November 20, 2024 episode. Andrade was released from WWE for the second time this past week. There’s no word yet on what the future holds for the former AEW star, but there is new fan chatter related to Dragon Lee surrounding the fallout of Andrade’s exit, and how the WWE Speed Championship may be cursed.

WWE Fans Concerned About Dragon Lee’s Future

Dragon Lee was the man to end Andrade’s reign as WWE Speed Champion. The third Superstar to hold the strap was dethroned by El Grande Americano during the Speed episode on May 7 of this year, ending the Speed lineage before the title became a regular championship on NXT.

The Red Bull controversially signed with World Wrestling Entertainment in late 2022, and has been pushed with The LWO since then. Lee also made his AAA return with WWE. The 30-year-old was a trending topic earlier this week when it was reported that he had just three months left on his contract, fueling rumors and speculation including a theory on how the Speed Championship is cursed due to the fates of Ricochet, Andrade, and Dragon Lee.

Sources later revealed that Lee is under WWE contract until late 2026 due to a certain stipulation. The former NXT North American Champion was defeated by Finn Balor during RAW on September 1. He then defeated Ethan Page at two NXT live events, and lost to Trick Williams at another, and worked Worlds Collide this weekend, in the Fatal 4 Way that saw AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. retain over Lee, Page, and JD McDonagh.
