Fandango Seemingly Announces His Wrestling Retirement

Former NXT Tag Team Champion Fandango has seemingly hinted that he is set to step away from the ring, almost a year after he was released by WWE.

On June 25th, 2021 Fandango was released by WWE alongside his long-time tag team partner Tyler Breeze. The pair were let go along with the likes of Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari. Fandango’s exit marked the end of a 15-year run with the company that began with a stint in Deep South Wrestling in 2006.

Since then he has been known as Dirty Dango, wrestling on the independent scene and as part of the NWA. He recently teamed with JTG as The Dirty Sexy Boys in the Crockett Cup, losing in the quarter-finals to eventual cup winners, The Briscoes.

Fandango took to Twitter to announce his apparent impending retirement from the ring before deleting his account:

“I’ll be stepping away from the ring in couple months. Goodbye forever.”

Fandango had recently spoken to Chris Van Vliet, where he revealed that he knew once Nick Khan came in as WWE President, that his time in the company was running out:

“But then, when [Nick] Khan came in, is that his name? He started cleaning house and I think Breeze and I were still on some main roster contract pay scale, so I kind of knew, I think we both kind of knew it was coming. It sucks because you’re not getting paid as much, obviously. For me it was exciting because I can go off and do some different stuff, you know. You can’t work at the same place forever, man.”
