Former Imperium member Fabian Aichner’s name change was confirmed on the latest episode of NXT 2.0.
For weeks, NXT 2.0 has been airing vignettes that feature a woman with an Italian accent speaking about a new character called Giovanni Vinci. While Vinci’s identity has been a mystery until now, it was reported earlier this week that the name would be given to former NXT Tag Team Champion Fabian Aichner, who didn’t join his fellow Imperium members when they made their transition to SmackDown in April.
Sure enough, the latest vignette for Giovanni Vinci on NXT 2.0 featured the former Imperium star revealing his face for the first time, confirming that he will be joining a long list of stars to undergo an identity change in recent months.

In fact, none of the members of Imperium have retained their former identities, with former NXT UK Champion WALTER now being known as Gunther and the former Marcel Barthel now going by Ludwig Kaiser on SmackDown.
Elsewhere on NXT 2.0, former Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews showed a major shift in character as he made his return to NXT for the first time in five years when he confronted Bron Breakker and set his sights on the NXT Championship. He also teamed with Solo Sikoa later in the night to defeat the team of Grayson Waller and NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes. Meanwhile, Roxanne Perez was crowned the winner of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.
