Exclusive: Tony Khan Addresses Kenny Omega AEW Return Following NJPW Announcement

Tony Khan has addressed the upcoming in-ring return of Kenny Omega in NJPW and if fans could expect to see him back in All Elite Wrestling sometime soon.

Full Gear 2024 will mark one year since Omega performed on pay-per-view, which saw the former World Champion and Chris Jericho defeat The Young Bucks. Unfortunately, Omega was hospitalised at the end of the year with diverticulitis and has not competed since his victory over Ethan Page on an episode of Collision in December 2023.

Largely remaining away from TV apart from a one-off appearance in May, Omega recently made his return to New Japan at Power Struggle. However, much like the return earlier in the year, Omega was attacked in the New Japan appearance, this time by Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd.

Speaking in an interview with NJPW following the altercation, Kenny Omega officially challenged Gabe Kidd to a match at the crossover pay-per-view Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th. With Omega set to return to action in just a few weeks, fans are now hoping that another in-ring return will not be too far away.

Tony Khan Provides Kenny Omega Update

Speaking with Alex Hunt from ITR Wrestling on the Full Gear 2024 media call, Khan stated that he was excited to see Omega back in New Japan and hopes to see the former World Champion return to the promotion very soon:

“I would love to have Kenny Omega back in AEW as soon as possible. He’s one of our greatest wrestlers ever. We work really closely with New Japan Pro Wrestling, we’ll be collaborating with them on the Wrestle Dynasty event to make a huge show. Very excited to get Kenny Omega back, hopefully very soon in AEW. It’s something that will help us a lot, means a lot to us.

Absolutely if we can get Kenny Omega going as soon as possible I think it would be a great thing for us. I’m just excited his health is better and he sounds a lot better and looks so much better. It will be a great thing to get Kenny Omega back here very soon.”
