Exclusive: The Blue Meanie Comments On Tension Between CM Punk And The Elite

CM Punk - The Blue Meanie exclusive

CM Punk’s backstage fight with The Elite following AEW All Out might have dominated the news but The Blue Meanie is not really sure why.

In the hours after the event in September 2022, CM Punk’s relationship with AEW exploded and it appeared that he would never feature for the company again. The star, who had just won the World Championship, launched into a remarkable rant at the post-show media scrum taking aim at the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, and Colt Cabana while Tony Khan was sat just feet away

These comments sparked a fight backstage involving Ace Steel as well as The Elite, and the ramifications of the incident are still being felt to this day.

However, during an exclusive chat with Nick Hausman for Inside The Ropes, former ECW star The Blue Meanie questioned what all the fuss was about. The veteran, real name Brian Heffron, said that he’s seen far worse locker room incidents between people who went on to have a match together.

“Beating down Punk’s door and him fighting is like, the least dramatic thing I could ever think of professional wrestling when I’ve seen some rough sh*t happen in a locker room between two people and then they go on to have a match. [laughs]”

Meanie then quipped that when you start a wrestling company there should be lawyers in the office and not professional wrestlers.

“Yeah, when you when you start a wrestling company, you should hire lawyers to be in the office, not professional wrestlers.”

CM Punk To Return To AEW

On the May 31st episode of Dynamite, Tony Khan confirmed the worst-kept secret in wrestling, CM Punk is returning to All Elite Wrestling. Punk will make his grand return on the debut episode of Collision on June 17th, with the show coming live from the United Center in Chicago.

The star famously made his AEW debut in the same venue.
