Shawn Michaels is a huge fan of Joe Hendry’s creativity and has looked back on the day that the TNA star shocked the wrestling world.
Following on from the success of his catchy theme song both in the UK charts and on social media clips, Hendry quickly became one of the most wished-for TNA stars to appear on WWE NXT following on from the shock return of Jordynne Grace back in May to signify the renewal or the partnership between both promotions.
After an initial tease from Cody Rhodes, Joe Hendry made a surprise appearance on the June 18th episode of NXT as part of the battle royal to crown a new number one contender to the NXT Championship.
While the ovation was thunderous and made the cameras shake inside the venue, the dream was quickly shattered when Joe Hendry was quickly eliminated from the battle royal and confronted Michaels moments later backstage, teasing future appearances as the TNA star claimed he would appear on any show.
“He Certainly Has A Bright Future”: Shawn Michaels On Joe Hendry
When asked by Inside The Ropes’ Kenny McIntosh on the NXT Heatwave media call about the shock appearance and the social media success, Michaels commended Hendry for what he had achieved on his own and hopes that Hendry will return:
“Clearly you could see what it was. It was my first time meeting Joe. Again, even for me not being the most skilled social media guy. You see his turnaround all the time from a social media standpoint. Clearly he is a bright young man. The short dealings that I had with him, I liked him a great deal. So again, nothing would thrill me more than to have the opportunity to work with Joe Hendry in the future. I think he would tell you the same thing, he is someone who wants to continue to grow and move up.
But right now, unfortunately, nothing to add at this point in time, but I think he’s a young man that’s very bright, and certainly has a very bright future and I appreciate the way he has generated this on his own and I think that always speaks well of somebody. Again, you used the words thinking outside of the box, he’s obviously done that and I always appreciate the intellect that it takes to grow outside the wheelhouse that they’re in.”
Joe Hendry will be in action at TNA Slammiversary in a massive match.
