Exclusive: Nigel McGuinness Planned On Wrestling Bryan Danielson At AEW All In Prior To Injury

Nigel McGuinness Bryan Danielson AEW

Nigel McGuinness answers the question that fans want to know the answer to.

Shortly after All In was announced for Wembley Stadium the former Ring of Honor Champion teased that he would be dusting off the boots and coming out of retirement. The rumours would then only grow as McGuinness stated that he would come out of retirement if his opponent would be Bryan Danielson, renewing their classic ROH rivalry.

Taking place between 2006 and 2009, the matches between Danielson and McGuinness are regarded as some of the best ever seen in Ring of Honor history.

Speaking Exclusively with Inside The Ropes ahead of All In, McGuinness revealed that he would be competing again if it were not for Danielson’s untimely injury. McGuiness continued to tease The American Dragon by mocking his broken arm and stating that only one of Danielson’s bones is actually broken:

Well truth of the matter is were it not for Clam Digger Bryan Danielson or Clam Digger Brittle Danielson as some people are calling him these days, I probably would be wrestling again. But as you know, he hurt his arm, so that’s not going to happen. I’m not just somebody who wants to just come out of retirement for any specific reason, it has to be the right person and the right match and it seemed like it would be it.

How ironic that Bryan said that he would break my neck if he ever got the chance to wrestle me and then what happens? He breaks his arm! Karma, I think is a bitch. And on an elbow drop as well. It’s like bending over to pick up your groceries and oops, broke me arm. On top of that, if that is not pathetic enough, 206 bones in the human body, 205 of his are perfectly ok.

In a March 2024 interview, Nigel McGuinness gave an optimistic update about a possible return.
