Bianca Belair has addressed the positive comments Becky Lynch has written about The EST in her recent autobiography.
2021 was a year of highs and lows for Belair. Beginning the year by winning the Royal Rumble and main eventing night one of WrestleMania 37 with a victory over Sasha Banks to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion, Belair looked set for a career-defining run one year on from her main roster debut inside an empty Performance Center. At SummerSlam that year, everything changed.
With Belair’s opponent uncertain for The Biggest Party of the Summer, Carmella was named as a last-minute replacement before The Man made her return from maternity leave to a thunderous ovation. The cheers quickly turned into silence and confusion as 26 seconds later Lynch brought Belair’s reign to a disappointing end.
Addressing the controversial match in her book, Lynch admitted that it was a finish she was not a fan of and did everything possible to make Belair look like a star in the lead-up to their match at WrestleMania 38 and the match itself, something Belair will be forever grateful for.
“She’s Just An Amazing Person”: Bianca Belair
Speaking with Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, Belair stated that she will be forever grateful for Lynch, what she had done for her own career and for the division as a whole:
“It means everything. Becky Lynch is somebody who is so close to my heart. She is so much more than just who she is inside of the ring and what’s most important to me is the person that she is outside of the ring. But it was really cool to read that in the book where she wrote about SummerSlam and our whole interaction that was our first time actually meeting each other.
Just to see how far we’ve come from three years or four years since then, and she had my back and she stood up for me. She stood up for this division, she stood up for me. She’s just an amazing person and yeah, nobody could say anything to ever make me hate Becky. I just love her so much.”
