Former WWE Superstar Buff Bagwell has found himself in more legal hot water.
On July 13th Buff Bagwell was arrested in Cobb County, Georgia. The wrestler-turned-podcaster was charged with Misdemeanour offenses of Speeding and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. He was released two days later.
The arrest is a fresh setback for the star who has been open about his battles with addiction in recent years. In May 2021, Buff Bagwell was hit with a list of charges, some relating to an incident a year earlier where he’d been involved in a car accident.
Since then, the former WCW star, whose real name is Marcus Bagwell, has worked closely with Diamond Dallas Page in an effort to turn his life around. In March, Bagwell cancelled a number of personal appearances to move in with DDP and get things back on track. At the time, DDP posted on social media that Bagwell was doing okay and making progress.
Diamond Dallas Page is well known for his work in helping former wrestlers work through problems with addiction, famously coming to the aid of WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts.
When Did Buff Bagwell Wrestle In WWE?
Buff Bagwell began his career in 1990 and moved to WCW in 1991. He remained with the company until it was purchased by WWE in 2001, later signing a deal with the sports entertainment giant. During this period he won tag team gold, joined the nWo, and wrestled some of the biggest names the promotion had to offer.
Unfortunately, Bagwell’s time in WWE is best remembered for a poorly received match on Raw with Booker T, shortly after the ‘invasion’ began. It also passed into wrestling folklore thanks to comments made by Jim Ross that Bagwell’s mother phoned in sick for him, something the former WCW star denied.
