A former WWE star has discussed the brief period when he was known by a different name.
Abent from TV from July 2021 to April 2022, fans started to question the status of Elias and whether he would be returning anytime soon if at all. The absence was not because he was injured but instead was the curse of creative had nothing for him at that time. On the Raw after WrestleMania 38, it was revealed what the plans were for the former Drifter moving forward.
Shaving off his beard and now wearing trunks instead of jeans, The Drifter’s brother Ezekiel interrupted Kevin Owens. Although Owens saw through the change, fans and the rest of the roster went along with it as Owens continued his descent into madness.
Speaking with Metro about his time as Ezekiel and now known as Elijah, the former WWE star gave his reaction to the pitch and how he was willing to go all in on the character:
‘From a comfort standpoint, it was definitely interesting,’ he chuckled. ‘But it’s another one of those things where I’m like, “Okay, boss, I’ll make the best of it.”
As the storyline progressed, it was revealed that Ezekiel and Elias had even more siblings and the extended family was a large one. Continuing, Elijah stated that he did have ideas for how other family members could have been introduced.
‘I still have a character in mind for my older brother Elrod,’ he admitted, as well as other family members. ‘I think we’ve opened up a whole box of characters and creative outlets we could possibly go in.’
Elias Reveals Popular WWE Persona Was His Idea
During the same interview, The Drifter addressed his time in the company and how he would pitch ideas to the creative team. The ex-WWE star also revealed how one of his ideas was given to Seth Rollins.
In a separate interview, another former WWE star thinks they will return.
