Ex-WWE Star Makes ROH Debut

In a surprising turn of events, former WWE Superstar Sidney Akeem, known for his previous ring personas Reggie and Scrypts, debuted at the Ring of Honor tapings on Sunday in Arlington, Texas.

Akeem faced off against Johnny TV, but unfortunately for him, he came up short in his first match with ROH. Akeem’s journey in the wrestling world took a notable shift earlier this year. His contract with WWE was not renewed when it expired in June, a decision that was announced back in April.

Following his exit, Akeem quickly transitioned to the independent circuit, making a name for himself in GCW. There, he defeated well-known talents such as Ninja Mack, Myron Reed, and Gringo Loco.

Sidney Akeem originally joined WWE in 2020, where he first appeared as a sommelier for Carmella. He soon found himself in the spotlight, engaging in memorable feuds with the likes of Akira Tozawa and R-Truth over the coveted WWE 24/7 Championship.

In 2022, he reinvented himself in NXT as the masked character Scrypts. After losing his mask, he took on the role of manager for the tag team OTM, comprised of Lucien Price and Bronco Nima, until he departed from the organisation.

Which Promotion Did Sidney Akeem Say The WWE Should Have Worked With?

Sidney Akeem said that WWE should have worked with Progressive Insurance for the 24/7 Championship, Akeem said that he pitched the idea to the creative team but it was ultimately shot down which he believed was a “missed opportunity.”
