Ex-WWE Star Fires Shot At Company While Discussing Kevin Owens Injury

A former WWE star has commented on Kevin Owens’ recent injury announcement while also seemingly referencing their own release from the company.

On April 4th, news broke that Kevin Owens was dealing with a serious injury and would miss WrestleMania. On SmackDown later that day, the former World Champion confirmed the news was true and that he required neck surgery.

The news regarding Owens came up on Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson’s podcast Talk N Shop. Both Gallows and Anderson were released from their contracts in February 2025 with Anderson still recovering from surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and a partially torn labrum. The surgery took place in November 2024, meaning that Anderson was released while recovering from the procedure.

Elaborating on the news regarding Owens, Anderson stated that he hoped WWE wouldn’t release KO 2 and a half months after the surgery:

“I don’t know anything about anything. I’m not in the middle of anything. I don’t know anything about storylines or how his health is. I don’t know his injury status. I don’t want to comment on that. Here’s what I’m going to go with. If Kevin is really hurt, which I’m not saying he is or isn’t, I don’t have any idea. I haven’t followed. I’m barely involved.

I’m just going to say this; I hope, if he’s really hurt and he has surgery, I hope he is not released two and a half months after the major surgery. That’s all I’m going to say. I hope that doesn’t happen to him. I hope that it’s a work and Randy [Orton] attacks him and they have a match at WrestleMania. If Kevin is really hurt, I just hope two and a half months after his recovery, everything is going well.”
