WWE’s decision to have The Rock headline WrestleMania against Roman Reigns at the expense of Cody Rhodes has been met with criticism from large portions of fans.
On the February 2nd edition of Friday Night SmackDown Rhodes confronted Reigns to announce his opponent for WrestleMania 40. However, the Royal Rumble winner didn’t choose the Head of the Table allowing The Great One to return and face his cousin in a mega match up.
Rhodes’ decision to sidestep the main event of WrestleMania in favour of The Rock came as a huge shock to the WWE Universe and not one they have taken lightly. The moment was met with delight to many in attendance but those online were not so on board.
The reaction online has been unsavoury while the YouTube video of stand off between the two generational Superstars has become the most unliked WWE video in company history.
Former WWE Star Summer Rae didn’t like how The Rock vs Roman Reigns came about
But fans online weren’t the only ones to share the disdain for the upcoming spectacle. Former WWE Star Summer Rae had some thoughts about the whole situation. In a lengthy social media post she wrote the following:
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t like it. I want it at Wrestlemania. So maybe I’m not seeing the ‘bigger picture’ here but 😫🙄 I want that f’ing match at Mania. That’s all. The end.
If this whole plan turns out better and blows our minds then I retract this tweet…
Imagine handing over your Wrestlemania match that you beat 29 other ppl for…AFTER a two year build I’m all for twists & turns but make it make sense! Gosh I hope we are ALL wrong. I hope it all makes sense next Fri in a Rock Roman promo, that is if either of them show up to tv
And if it was bc Punk got hurt & this is a change of plans it doesn’t take away from the fact that we all want THAT match, THE match at mania. The only match….Cody v Roman. I don’t want it on another ppv. I only want it there. It DESERVES that. And I don’t want it in 2025
