Ex-WWE Star Backstage At The Royal Rumble Reigniting Return Rumours

2023 WWE Royal Rumble

Former stars returning to WWE has become a regular occurrence since Triple H took over creative for the main roster.

Since The Game stepped up the likes of Bray Wyatt, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, Emma, Tegan Nox and more have all returned to the company.

Traditionally Royal Rumble matches have also been used as the perfect place to reintroduce ex-WWE stars and so it proved to be the case again. Nia Jax entered the women’s match at number 30, while Chelsea Green also marked her return with a record-breaking short stint in the match.

It has also now been revealed that another former Superstar who has been linked with a comeback was also backstage.

In a post on social media CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana paid tribute to Liv Morgan who lasted over an hour in the women’s Rumble match. Interestingly, that tribute came with a photo from backstage at the show. Fans noticed that Morgan is still sporting the evidence of being hit with Asuka’s green mist during the match, meaning that the photo was taken at the event.

“I am so proud of @YaOnlyLivvOnce lasting over an hour in the #RoyalRumble last night !!!! The pastel hair on you is also…”

Appearing as Lana and Rusev, CJ Perry and Miro began working together in NXT before arriving on WWE’s main roster at the 2014 Royal Rumble.

The pair remained together for much of Rusev’s time in WWE, which ended with his release in April 2020. However, as their run progressed, Lana began wrestling more often and became a full-time wrestler by the time her real-life husband departed the company.

During this period, Lana feuded with Nia Jax, later teaming with Naomi in a bid to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships. The star was released by WWE in June 2021 and is yet to return to the ring
