A former WWE star has been asked if signing with AEW or TNA may be on the cards for them at some point in the future.
Released from his contract in 2023, Elias has competed on the independent scene in promotions such as Revolver and IWC under the name Elijah. Although the pro wrestler and musician has been a free agent for more than a year, he has yet to make an appearance for a major promotion either as a one-off or an extended run.
During a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest, Elijah was asked if he was interested in joining a major promotion:
“When I left WWE, I was like, let me just relax, right. Then a buddy of mine, Sami Callihan, he was like hey, come on out to one of our shows, wrestle our guy ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, just have some fun and see how you feel.’ Went out, had fun. I was like, ‘Oh, yeah.’ I think I told you, for the last months of my career in WWE, I was beating on the door, trying to have fun, make something happen, and it wasn’t happening.
So to go out to an indie show, have some fun, doing the things I’ve always wanted to do, put me right back into it. So I’ve been enjoying that, man. If AEW or TNA or Japan or something like that, if an opportunity comes up, maybe take it, see what they’ve got to say, but there’s no rush or anything like that.”
Another Ex-WWE Star Discusses AEW
With many former WWE stars generating a significant amount of star power from their time in the company, it’s no surprise that AEW has made offers to the notable names once they become free agents. However, when asked if joining AEW was on the cards, former WWE star Baron Corbin explained why it would not be happening at this time.
In a further update, the former WWE star posted an interesting vignette hinting at an AEW deut.
