Mickie James has been all over women’s wrestling news as of late. She has been working tirelessly to create a more comprehensive women’s division outside WWE and AEW.
And after having an important career success at IMPACT’s Hard To Kill PPV, another women’s wrestling legend wants to get her hands on Mickie James…even if that means coming out of retirement.
Gail Kim changed her mind on wrestling Mickie James
Some time ago, Mickie James asked Gail Kim to come out of retirement so that the two of them could face off one-on-one. Kim declined back then, but now that Mickie James holds the IMPACT Knockouts Champion, the situation has changed.
In an interview with Lucha Libre Online, Gail Kim explained why she changed her mind.
“If she wanted me to come out of retirement to wrestle her, I would do it, just because I respect her that much. I would just need the time to prepare physically.
People are asking, ‘does that mean?’ Listen, you never say never in wrestling. I don’t think I would do what Mickie did, she started at the bottom and worked her way up, that’s a lot of matches to have [laughs].
You never say never to a dream scenario. It could be anything, someone just has to put together the right scenario for it to be something.
We’re all wrestlers, we all love it, it’s always inside of us somewhere. We put it to bed, but sometimes a little something comes up.”
With her most recent win, Mickie James has become a 12-time women’s singles champion between WWE and TNA/IMPACT.
She has also won women’s titles all over the independent scene and has expressed interest in booking women’s-only wrestling shows in the United States such the NWA EmPowerrr event.
