A former AEW star’s current free agent status can allow her to appear anywhere.
Several AEW stars’ contracts ended this year, like Miro, Malakai Black, Ricky Starks, and Mariah May, among others. Another name who became a free agent this year was Saraya. Although the aforementioned stars have since joined WWE under different names, the former Paige has not, but it looks like she’s not opposed to the idea.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Saraya shared that she was officially a free agent and could now appear anywhere. She added that her contract was done, which AEW actually let her walk away from:
I’m a free agent now. I could pop up anywhere. No, my contract’s done, done. That’s one thing that helped is because they gave me the opportunity to walk away from this contract. Not a lot of companies or businesses would do that, but Tony was really, really great about it. So I was like you can keep paying me, or I can just take a hike.”
The former Divas Champion joined WWE in 2011 and sustained a neck injury in 2017. She announced her in-ring retirement the following year. She spent years as an on-screen star before departing in 2022.
That same year, she became All Elite and returned to in-ring action with the ring name Saraya. In March this year, she ended her three-year run with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Former AEW Star Saraya On The Possibility Of Appearing At WWE Evolution II
Although the former AEW Women’s World Champion was still with the Stamford-based promotion during the first edition of Evolution in 2018, she couldn’t participate due to her persistent neck injury. Now that she’s better, she’s hoping for a spot at the all-women’s premium live event.
In the same appearance, the former WWE star noted that Evolution was bittersweet for her, as she was injured when the inaugural show occurred. However, she would definitely think about it if she were offered to appear this year:
It’s like a bittersweet thing, because the first one, I couldn’t be on it because of my neck. So if I had the opportunity to be on this all-female pay-per-view, of course, yeah, I would think about it.”
