Evil Uno and Stu Grayson have discussed their excitement at Brodie Lee joining AEW but didn’t think he would want to lead The Dark Order.

Speaking to Aubrey Edwards and Tony Schiavone on the AEW Unrestricted podcast. The two Dark Order originals explained that their relationship with Lee stretched back to their days in the indie scene.

After a difficult start in AEW, the fortunes of the Dark Order group changed once Brodie Lee debuted in March 2020. As ‘The Exalted One’ Lee would win the group’s only title so far. Lee dominated Cody Rhodes to win the TNT Championship in August 2020.

Evil Uno and Grayson recalled that they were unsure if Lee would be happy in a role within a faction in AEW. Lee, as Luke Harper had spent the majority of his WWE career as part of The Wyatt Family.

The Dark Order members stated:

“With The Exalted One, we’re about to do the best work of our lives with the guy that was our best friend for so long. When Brodie was coming over, at first, we weren’t even sure if we should propose to him to be The Exalted One because he had been in a team the whole time, he’s probably going to want to have a singles run. He was like, ‘No. I’m f*cking in guys, let’s do this!”

Brodie Lee led the Dark Order until his tragic passing in December 2020. Lee’s last match of his career saw him lose the TNT Championship back to Cody Rhodes. The two men faced off in a dog collar match for the title.
