“Everyone Hates My Finish”: Top WWE Star Addresses Fan Criticism And Why Different Move Is Not Used

A top WWE star is aware that not everyone is a fan of their finisher while admitting they have considered other options.

A good finishing move can help elevate a wrestler to the next level in their career with the all-time greats often going through multiple moves before ultimately deciding on their signature manoeuvre. While the likes of the RKO, the Stunner or the frog splash remain firm fan favourites, not every move is beloved.

Previously using the Bayley to Belly as her finish, another move that was not universally loved by the fans, Bayley switched to the Roseplant following her heel turn. While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, the former Women’s Champion was asked if the change in move was due to the heel turn:

“Everyone hates my finish, huh? Sorry guys. It was a finish that I did on the indies. [Why do they hate it?] I don’t know. The setup is really hard. Sometimes I’m like trying to figure out where to put it, or how to get into it. I’m like man, this is annoying. This move sucks. But I think it’s hard to get into sometimes, but when I get smooth ways to do it, it comes out really good. But that is why I changed it, and because I thought the Bayley to belly was very gimmicky.”

WWE Star Bayley Explains Why Elbow Drop Is Not Her Finisher

When questioned about the fan negativity towards the move, Bayley noted that she is trying to make the move more effective and explained why her elbow drop is not a finisher:

“I think I stopped worrying a long time ago, because that’ll kill you. Not that we don’t listen to them [the fans], we care, they’re the reason we do this. But when it comes to that, it’s more of a challenge. I just have to think of smoother ways to get into it or make sure the impact is really forceful. But I have had Michael Hayes be like, ‘Hey, have you thought about using the elbow?’ I’m like, yeah I can, but it hurts.

I try my hardest to not hurt the person, and it’s all on my hip. Sometimes my back goes into place, sometimes it goes out of place, you never know what you are gonna get with the elbow. This one is very safe, everyone can take it and no one is really afraid of it. You have to block it out. As a heel it was cool, but now it’s not as exciting.”

Concluding, Bayley also added that she is considering less impactful moves to reduce her bump card:

“I’m thinking of ways of making it smoother and some submissions. My knees are terrible, landing on your knees so long is brutal. But I just want to get this right, there are times where it looks so good.”

Also in the interview, Bayley detailed her original pitch for Damage CTRL that would have featured an AEW star.

In other news, a special WrestleMania entrance was planned for Rey Mysterio.
