Ethan Page will be looking to make the biggest impact possible in his WWE NXT in-ring debut.
At the Battleground Premium Live Event on June 9th, Page will challenge NXT Champion Trick Williams for the title at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Page was invited to the ring by General Manager Ava for a contract signing and was met with a hostile reception from the live fans. Walking to the ring with no entrance music, Page stated that the title match was a part of his contract negotiations among other demands and that NXT needed him while Ava protested about signing the contract.
Interrupted by Williams, Page threw the table out of the ring immediately as he is aware how many contract signings usually end. Williams asked Ava to sign the contract and give Page whatever he wanted so that the match could be made official. Page responded that while he respected what Williams had accomplished, the attack was to make an opportunity for himself by taking out the top champion. Following more protests from Ava, the match was eventually made official.
The former AEW star made his shock debut for the company on the May 28th episode of NXT when he attacked Williams following the main event and was also revealed to be the one who attacked Oro Mensah and Noam Dar.
The updated line-up for NXT Battleground is as follows:
- Trick Williams (c) vs. Ethan Page – Singles match for the NXT Championship
