The Coffin Match that was originally set for AEW Road Rager on the 7th of July has been postponed by Ethan Page after he was attacked by Darby Allin on Dynamite.
Page and his ‘Men Of The Year’ partner Scorpio Sky have been involved in an increasingly heated rivalry with Sting and Darby Allin in recent weeks. Sky and Page were in the habit of jumping Allin and The Icon from behind whenever they saw the opportunity. That led to the tag team match between the teams at Double Or Nothing that saw Sting roll back the years and seal the victory for his team.
Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page were not done there however as they worked their mind games on Darby Allin, luring him into accepting a handicap match with the pair. With the former TNT Champion begging Sting to stay away for that encounter The Men Of The Year were able to defeat Darby Allin on the 18th of June edition of Dynamite.
Far from being satisfied with that win, Ethan Page lived up to his ‘All Ego’ nickname when he challenged Allin to a Coffin Match. The master of the Coffin Drop Darby Allin accepted and the match was due to take place in Miami on the 7th of July. However, on the 3oth of June edition of Dynamite, The Men Of The Year were holding court in the ring as is their want only to be interrupted by Sting pulling a coffin on wheels to the ring. After a short video showing Allin wielding a flamethrower, Allin emerged from the coffin and attacked Page and Sky. Sting dropped Scorpio Sky causally with a Scorpion Death Drop while Allin dug his pointed black nails into the eyes of Ethan Page.
After being separated by security and AEW officials, Ethan Page declared the Coffin Match would now be postponed. Page added that he would make Allin sign papers saying he can’t touch Page from one week before the match so Page can be one hundred percent for the contest.
There is no word as to why the match has been moved other than the explanation offered by Page but it is now likely to take place at Fyter Fest or even Fight For The Fallen which both take place in the upcoming weeks.
AEW Road Rager does have a packed card despite losing the Coffin Match as AEW looks to put on the best show it can as it returns to the road. Emanating from Miami, Road Rager will see Cody Rhodes face QT Marshall in a South Beach Strap Match. As well as that highly personal affair, The Young Bucks will be all business when they put their AEW Tag Titles on the line against Penta El Zero Miedo and Eddie Kingston. Orange Cassidy will team with Kris Statlander in a mixed tag team match against The Bunny and The Blade.
The war between Inner Circle and The Pinnacle continues as Jake Hager, Santana, and Ortiz will be accompanied by Konnan for their bout with FTR and Wardlow, who will be joined by Tully Blanchard. Andrade El Idolo will also enter the ring for the first time in All Elite Wrestling as he faces Matt Sydal.
